Terms of Use

Agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and Engineering Bits (“we”, “us”). They apply to the Upheld iPhone app and to this website. By using either you accept them. If you do not agree, do not use them.

The app is licensed to you under Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement. These terms add to it; where the two conflict, Apple’s agreement governs the license. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.

Subscription

• Upheld is offered as an auto-renewing subscription, bought through the App Store. The price and billing period are shown before you confirm.
• If a free trial is offered, you are charged when it ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before. Any unused part of a trial ends when you buy a subscription.
• Payment is charged to your Apple ID. The subscription renews automatically at the same price and period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• You can manage or cancel it in your iPhone’s Settings: tap your name, then Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the paid period ends.
• Billing and refunds are handled by Apple under Apple’s terms. Refunds are requested at reportaproblem.apple.com.
• If the price changes, Apple tells you in advance and, where the law requires it, asks for your consent before the new price applies.

What Upheld is, and is not

Upheld offers Scripture, prayers and short devotional readings for personal encouragement. It is not medical, psychological, legal or financial advice, and it does not replace a doctor, a counselor or a pastor. If you are in crisis in the United States, call or text 988. If you are in danger, call 911 or your local emergency number.

Content and ownership

The app, its design, the prayers and readings written for it, its illustrations and the name Upheld belong to Engineering Bits. The Berean Standard Bible and the King James Version, and Christina Rossetti’s prayers, are in the public domain.

You may use the app for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. You may share verse cards and individual prayers with people you know, including on social media. You may not copy, republish or sell the app’s content in bulk, or use it to build another product.

Your notes and answers are yours. They stay on your device and we claim no rights in them.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use the app or website to break the law or infringe anyone’s rights;
• copy, decompile or reverse engineer the app, except where the law allows it despite this restriction;
• attempt to disrupt our servers, download their contents in bulk, or gain unauthorised access to them.

Changes to the app

We improve Upheld over time: content is added and revised, and features may change. We will not take away a feature you rely on without good reason, and paid features will not be removed from a period you have already paid for.

Disclaimers

The app and website are provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not promise that the app will be uninterrupted or free of errors.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Engineering Bits is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits or data. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app or website is limited to the amount you paid for Upheld in the 12 months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law that cannot be waived.

Ending

You can stop using Upheld at any time by cancelling your subscription and deleting the app. We may suspend access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, we will post the new version here and update the effective date. Continuing to use Upheld after a change means you accept the updated terms.
